Elchrom Gels

Elchrom Gels

Unique Materials

Elchrom mini gels are made of unique hydrophilic materials (non-acrylamide, non-agarose).

Gel polymers are arranged in a conceptually new way (patented), in accordance with a new model of gel electrophoresis.

The gels are specially designed in Mini format for easy handling and convenient use.

They provide exceptionally high performance, high resolution, and high throughput.

These novel gels are:

·        Mechanically stable, elastic and more resistant to tearing than other gel types.

·        Stable, they do not melt at 95°C.

·        Inert, do not inhibit ligases and polymerases.

·        Highly transparent with low background. Since the bands are sharp, very little DNA per band is required: EtBr or SYBR staining can replace silver staining and the use of radioactivity in many cases.

·        Covalently bound to a plastic backing for easy handling.

·        Stained bands can be excised and used directly for PCR , sequencing and elution for cloning.

The gels can be advantageously used for the majority of applications currently performed in the submarine mode. The unique advantages of these new types of matrices allow better results to be obtained with submarine electrophoresis than with vertical or flat-bed polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.

The gels cover the size range of 20 bp to 22,000bp.

Elchrom Mini ready-to-use gels are manufactured with Swiss precision. Each gel box

contains a Quality Control Certificate with an original Polaroid photo as proof of the high performance of the gel batch.
