Freeze Dried supplement to be added to Baird Parker medium for the isolation, enumeration and rapid identification of

Staphylococcus aureus (Cat No BP 411)

Supplement contents :

Rabbit Plasma- The optimal substrate for the detection of coagulase

Fibrinogen-  For enhancement of the coagulase reaction

Trypsin inhibitor- For prevention of fibrinolysis

       Potassium tellurite- A selective agent

      Assay Procedure and Interpretation:

One bottle of freeze dried Hy Staph Aureole supplement is added to 90ml of Baird Parker base.

Following inoculation the plates should be incubated for 24 hours.

S. aureus colonies will be black to gray black and  surrounded by a distinct opaque halo (coagulase positive) on the transparent medium.
